The Sound Update


I have added a new level to focus on sounds. There is a new button to get to the level on the main menu.  The rotating doors now lock and stay open once the player opens them with a key. 

The sounds that were added:

  • doors now make a noise when they are locked as well as when they open. 
    • These were recorded with my phone and a real door. the opening was just me opening a door. the locked sound was me jiggling a door knob.
  • The rats make a noise when they jump back.
    • There was no reasoning for the sound. When I was making the sounds on Bfxr this one came up and it made me laugh, so I put it on the rat because that was also funny.
  • There is music playing from a boombox
    • I made this song using an app on my phone. I was trying to make a lofi type beat that gives off the vibe of a small cafe. 
  • There is ambient noise in the cafe area. 
    • I was going to put taking noises but I couldn't get enough so I took some of what I recorded added some fancy filters on the audio and put it as a background noise.
  • the checkpoints now make a noise when the player touches them.
    • I was going for a short noise. this was made on Bfxr
  • there is a noise whenever the player dies and the you died screen appears.
    • I made it cause it sounds like a death sound that is very video gamey.  made on Bfxr
  • the falling platforms make a noise when they are stepped on, falling, and coming back into position.
    • The falling noise is a sound that descends while the rising motion sound goes up.  These were made in Bfxr
  • the moving platforms also make noise when they move. 
    • Whenever they move up they go up in octave whenever the platform is going down the octave goes down in octave.  made in Bfxr
  • The key makes a noise when picked up as well as when it is used
    • The noise was recorded in real life as well. It was done by jingling keys in front of my mic. 
  • There is lava that makes noise as well
    • it was made using the smoke and 2 fire noises in the starter pack.
  • the player jumping makes a short quiet noise
    • I didn't want it to be too loud so it wouldn't get annoying with the platforming. also made in Bfxr
